Clubman of the year goes around another year

In fantastic news for club and supporters, Alex Johnson has put pen to paper and signed on for another season. The 24-year-old's recovery is on track, having undergone an incredible 5th knee reconstruction earlier this year.

Signing the extension repays the faith the club has put in him, with Tom Harley absolutely rapt for the unlucky defender.

“We have always been committed to giving AJ every possible chance to return to senior football,” Harley said.

“This coupled with the fact that Alex is such a quality young man made for a very straight forward decision.

“I speak on behalf of everyone involved with the Sydney Swans when I say that we can't wait to see Alex extend his games tally with the Club."

He was a fantastic player and looked to have an incredible future before being struck down cruelly by injury. His mature performance in the 2012 decider won him plaudits across the league, and was the best of his fledgling career.

If he can get back to AFL level, he will surpass Swans favourite Nick Malceski and Geelong's forward Daniel Menzel, as the next bionic man. If Menzel's performances this year is any sort of indicator, Johnson has a red hot chance of making his way back into the team.

Congratulations young man, do your best! Can't wait to see him breaking back into the team.
