Grundy cleared by MRP for... ?

The Swans have today survived the MRP lotto, with key defender Heath Grundy cleared of who knows what this afternoon. An MRP preview video posted this morning, attempted to cast aspersions for a Grundy bump on the calamitous Casboult, who had turned into Heath without looking. Anyone with half-a-brain would have figured that this should have been left on the scrap heap, along with the ... Continue Reading »

Player ratings: Buddy Franklin vs Carlton Blues, Round 23 2017

Image courtesy of Phil Hillyard There aren't many games these days when players single-handedly outscore their opponents. The last time Franklin went big, he kicked 13 goals against North Melbourne in his second last season for Hawthorn, with Anthony Hudson's famous catch-cry "thirteen! thirteen!" still ringing the ears of football fans. His 10 goal haul against Carlton was his 2nd biggest in his stellar career, ... Continue Reading »

Match report: Brilliant Buddy crushes the Blues

There's performances and there's performances, and Buddy's 10 goal haul on Saturday night was an all-time great performance. Spectacular in every sense of the word, quite frankly one of the most ridiculous performances you'll ever see, kicking 10 goals, collecting 25 disposals, 11 of them contested - at 76% efficiency - and recording more than 650 metres gained. There really aren't enough superlatives in the ... Continue Reading »

Swans looking for things to do during the bye

With one round left in the season, the seemingly impossible situation of reaching finals from a near-disastrous start to the season, has been made possible largely to the never-say-die spirit of the Swans football club. Fresh off a chastening loss to the Blues at the MCG in round 6, the Swans set about correcting their teetering season with impressive wins against the Lions, Roos and ... Continue Reading »

Player ratings: Sydney Swans vs Adelaide Crows, Round 22 2017

Salty Crows, it tastes delicious after a match like that, kicking up a fuss over a debatable 50 metre penalty, although one could argue that the umpires were blatantly cheating for more than 3 quarters of the match. What a way to win the game. It's hard not to love this club, even when they stink it up, playing games like this. The sort of ... Continue Reading »
