Swans Giants set for senior hit out at Henson Park

Fresh off the their AFLX pre-season cup, the Sydney Swans and Greater Western Sydney Giants are reacquainting themselves with the true nature of AFL, playing their first pre-season game of 2018.

Friday's game isn't part of the JLT pre-season series, but with neither side scheduled to play this weekend, they will square off against each other at Henson Park at 5.30pm.

Both sides are taking a strong contingent of senior players into the game with Swans skipper Josh Kennedy, and fellow midfielder and reigning Bob Skilton Medalist Luke Parker leading a contingent of senior players, including Lance Franklin, Kieren Jack, Sam Reid, Tom Papley, Nick Smith and Dan Rampe.

Swans midfielders Dan Hannebery - in doubt for round 1 with a calf injury - and Isaac Heeney, along with veteran backs Jarrad McVeigh, new father Heath Grundy and 2016 Rising Star winning Callum Mills are among the absentees.

Likewise, the Giants have named a strong list with Jeremy Cameron, Jon Patton, Callan Ward, Dylan Shiel, Stephen Coniglio, Ryan Griffen, Lachie Witfield, Nick Haynes, Heath Shaw and Giants 2017 club best and fairest Josh Kelly all getting a run out.

The Swans will be streaming the match live on the Sydney Swans website from 5.30pm.

Throughout the broadcast you'll hear from the Swans players not competing in the game, and following the match supporters will have the chance to grab an autograph with their favourite players.

Gates to the ground open at 4pm and entry is free, refreshments will be available for purchase.
