Reported this morning by Sydney Swans Media, Sydney Swans superstar forward - and Coleman medal favourite - Lance Franklin has been ruled out of the Cats clash on Saturday afternoon with a heel injury.
Franklin sustained the bruised heel against the Eagles in round one and has fought on, but has been ruled out as he recovers from the injury.
Midfielder Dan Hannebery has also been ruled out after returning from injury, with a groin complaint.
Coach John Longmire confirmed the pair won't travel to Geelong to face the Cats.
“Lance won't play on Saturday. He hasn’t been able to do any significant training since the Round 1 game against West Coast,” Longmire said.
“He hasn’t responded after giving him time off and it got worse on the weekend so he won’t be playing this week.
“We don’t know at this stage how he will respond to that.”
With the Swans already missing Sam Reid (quad), Kurt Tippett (ankle, retired) and Sam Naismith (ACL), their only options are untried youth, plucked from last years' AFL Draft.
Aliir was tried as a forward against the Bulldogs in round 4, but had minimal impact.
Swans ruckman Callum Sinclair has played full forward before and the first change may be to bring Darcy Cameron into the side, but who else will play forward is anyone's guess.
