With a the club seemingly in rebuild mode, and two of the best players available in this years draft ripe for the taking, the Swans pulled off the most unexpected result - they won.
They turned around their dreadful SCG form to keep their winning history against Essendon ticking over, winning all games against them in Sydney this decade.
Surprisingly the turn-around was lead primarily by the young players, with Nick Blakey, Jordan Dawson, Tom McCartin and Colin O'Riordan stamping their impact on the game.
But big-game players Josh Kennedy, Luke Parker and Dane Rampe stood up when it mattered most and guided the young Swans home.
Blakey's chase down chase, and O'Riordan's pocket-to-pocket goal gave us a sneak into the future. And how good did it look!
