Teams: Sydney Swans vs Fremantle Dockers, Round 18, 2019

The Swans have swung the metaphorical selection cat ahead of their finals do-or-die clash against the Fremantle Dockers at Optus Stadium on Saturday night.

With both clubs vying for the finals, anything less than a victory all but ensures a season of hope and lost chances.

Hayden McLean, Ryley Stoddart, Robbie Fox and Ryan Clarke come into the side for Harry Cunningham (groin), Jordan Dawson (suspension), Ben Ronke (omit) and Kieren Jack (omit).

McLean, recruited from South Adelaide under the pre-season supplementary list rules, has been named to make his debut for the Swans, while Stoddart is set to play first game in over a year.

Swans senior coach John Longmire was delighted to give Hayden the good news.

“He was picked up in the pre-season and it was great to have him as part of our footy club from the start of the year.”

“He is a real competitor whole plays both forward and in the ruck and has been playing some really good football for us in our NEAFL side.

“It is always exciting to tell a young player that he is playing his first game of AFL football particularly one that has missed a few drafts.”
