Player ratings: Sydney Swans vs Melbourne Demons, Round 4, 2019

The last time the Swans played Melbourne in Round 4, was 2006. That day, the Demons kick-started their season with a 5-point win. Same round, same fixture, same result. It looked really good for us early on with Oliver Florent and Isaac Heeney running rampant.

But a few lucky snaps, some atrocious turnovers and terrible shots at goals, eradicated a 22-point lead. Turned it into nothing by half-time. A whopping turnaround of +24 contested possessions, +8 clearances and +7 inside 50s in the third quarter gave the Swans the hiding the fans were praying they would never see.

With the game on the line, the boys just butchered the ball. Dane Rampe, Jake Lloyd and Jackson Thurlow made unforgivable errors, while Lance Franklin lost his mojo, barely making the distance from 50 metres.

Oh well. There's always next week, an injury ravaged Richmond. Just hope it's not a repeat of that game we made Richmond look great when Ben Griffiths booted 5 to help the Tiges win by a point.

B: Callum Mills, Dane Rampe, Tom McCartin
HB: Jake Lloyd, Aliir Aliir, Zak Jones
C: George Hewett, Luke Parker, Oliver Florent
HF: Harry Cunningham, Sam Reid, Isaac Heeney
F: Jordan Dawson, Lance Franklin, Ben Ronke
FOL: Callum Sinclair, Josh P. Kennedy, Tom Papley
I/C: Jackson Thurlow, Kieren Jack, Nick Blakey, Justin McInerney
