The club during the week unofficially confirmed a rebuild was in process, but went out of their way to state that it was just a refresh.
A spade is a spade. Sitting at the bottom of the ladder with just one win, playing like a bottom team, with more than 20 new players debuting in the last three years, pretty much speaks for itself. It's a damned spade!
Tonight's performance against the Lions at the Gabba was of a team that's struggling at the bottom of the ladder. Gone is the confident, swashbuckling play the Swans were renowned for. Grinding down teams with contested football, before bursting from packs with accurate and quick ball movement.
Instead, we were treated to stagnation, butchery of the highest order, turnovers and no effort at all. And this was all in the first 5 minutes! Then the weather set in and that great fightback turned to nothing, as the Lions turned the screws and fixed the clamps.
That was some performance from Brisbane, a real statement of intent for the season, while the Swans will need to regroup if they're going to salvage anything from this season.
