The Sydney Swans have made one change ahead of their Round 8 clash against Essendon on Friday night.
Midfielder Harry Cunningham, who senior coach John Longmire described as Sydney's most consistent player, misses with a strained adductor.
Defender Colin O'Riordan has been added to the team in Cunningham's absence, making his return to the senior side for the second time this year.
The 23-year-old has been outstanding in the NEAFL this season, stringing together several strong performances, that have thrust him back into AFL considerations.
Coach John Longmire said that Colin O'Riordan has worked hard for his opportunity.
“Colin’s form has been absolutely fantastic in our reserves so he really deserves a game,” Longmire said.
“He played a fair bit of senior footy over the pre-season so it is good to have him back in the team.”
Superstar forward Lance Franklin failed a fitness test on Thursday, and will be sidelined for another week.
“He didn’t make it through the session completely last night so we had a chat about it today and he is out this week,” Longmire said.
“We will just re-assess next week and see what he is like next week, so we will get a further idea at the start of next week if he is ok.”
